Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous earth is a type of sand that occurs naturally and is obtained from the earth. It comprises the fossilized remains of tiny algae, also known as diatoms, that have been preserved for millions of years. Two primary varieties of diatomaceous earth are available: food-grade, which is safe for consumption, and filter-grade, which is not fit for consumption but has various industrial applications. The primary chemical constituent of diatoms in diatomaceous earth is silica. Silica is present in various natural substances, such as sand, rocks, plants, and human beings. Nevertheless, diatomaceous earth is a unique source of silica due to its concentrated form.
